S-WING-RAVE, monthly ‘swing’ Tea Dance.
Every month Wingrave hosts the ‘UK’s hottest tea dance’ in our wonderful village hall, Church St, HP22 4PE. Dancers and music lovers come from all over the south; from as far as Portsmouth come to swing away the afternoon with Lind-Hop, Jive and some Ballroom with free tea and cakes after a £5 entrance fee – all proceeds are donated to charity. If you love jazz and music from the big band era you will love this whether you like to dance or not, so come and enjoy the music, watch the dancing and have tea and cake on us! Lindy-Hop is the original jive to come to the UK from the clubs of Harlem during the 2nd World War and is fast becoming one of the most popular dance forms amongst swing music lovers. Our dances are always on the first Sunday of every month – so very easy to remember and you can come along anytime between 4 and 8pm. We also run workshops from 2-4pm in various ‘swing-dance’ styles all taught by professional teachers and we splash out with the occasional live band to add to the fun and nostalgia!
